We are happy to announce the launch of the second phase of our study. This phase consists on providing free training to education professionals including SENCOs, teachers, Educational Psychologists and other Local Authority officers concerning Education, Health and Care Plans (EHC) and the International Classification of Functioning (ICF), a classification system published and endorsed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) in 2001.
The ICF is a classification for functioning aspects rather than diagnosis, with which we can describe the functioning profiles of children with all kinds of special educational needs. It covers all aspects of life, including health, social care and education, in line with the new policy for SEND provision.
Learning Outcomes οf the training: - To become familiar with the framework surrounding the development of the ICF - To become familiar and a proficient user of the ICF coding system - To become familiar with ways of applying the ICF to develop holistic Education Health and Care plans - To be able to use ICF framework for planning holistic assessment and intervention work with children with young people with SEND - To be able to use ICF for following up pupils’ progress, decision-making processes concerning provision chances. - To become familiar with the ways of using ICF for ascertaining the voices of children, young people and their families.
If you are interested in participating in this phase of the project and receiving free training on the ICF please contact Vicky Eirinaki
